Why Not Silvia’s was one of the first Hispanic salons to open in Stamford. Business owner Silvia Torres-Cadena, along with her husband, Julio cadena, began their business venture over nearly fifteen years ago. Their business locations are both in Stamford and Norwalk, CT.

Luis Cadena

An Alumni from Universidad Central in his native Ecuador, Luis Cadena holds an specialization in the areas of Business Administration, Accounting, and also Auditorial Services.

Luis began to build his large experience in the finance industry working for the Ecuadorian government as an internal auditor for various Ecuadrorian government departments, such as the national comptroller, the agriculture and housing departments.

Upon his arrival to the U.S, Luis Cadena experiment all the struggles all immigrants are confronted with, nonetheless, his determination to suceed guided him to earn managerial positions for private organizations and businesses that include Regina Check Cashing, Bed Bath and Beyond, where he worked as an assistant manager; Luis has also worked as a comercial agent for Wester Union and is currently the lead business manager of Why not Silvia's Salon, LCC, which is owned by his wife, Silvia Cadena:”Why Not Silvia’s was one of the first Hispanic salons to open in Stamford.

In 2002, Silvia was named the Hispanic Businesswoman of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. About 50% of her clientele is from the Hispanic community, and she was earned a strong following among non-Hispanic.

Silvia’s work in the beauty industry is also well-known among participants at educational events at the Depasquale salons systems and Sebastian Wella International line, in NY, NJ, and CT.”-Whynotsilvia.com. Luis Cadena is one of the founding members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in which he has worked as a treasurer and remains optimistic that the new board will provide excellent representation for the Hispanic Small Business Owner doing business in the area of Stamford. In addition to GSHCC, Luis is also a founding and equally active member of the Ecuadorian Civic Committe in Lower Fairfield for which he currently works as the trearurer. Luis and his wife Silvia, support multiple charitable and Christian organizations in their native Ecuador as well as in the U.S.
