Meet the Attorney:
Alex J. Martinez
Attorney Alex J. Martinez is the son of a Peruvian family and immigrated to the United States when he was five years old. He graduated from the University of Connecticut, where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science. Additionally, Mr. Martinez also attended the University of Granada in Spain, Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. For nearly 15 years, Attorney Martinez has been the principal attorney of the Law Offices of Alex J. Martinez LCC.
The firm has always been based in Stamford and is presently located at 1150 Summer Street. Attorney Martinez's career extends over twenty years and covers the areas of Civil Litigation, Immigration, Family, Criminal Defense, Business Law, Foreclosure and Real Estate. Mr. Martinez with the assistance of his wife, Mia Fatta-Martinez, Director of the law firm, has expanded his practice in the last two years doubling his commercial space, and employing an associate, Attorney Ingemar Heredia. Attorney Heredia is from Ecuador and his family has long resided in Stamford. Mr. Heredia also graduated from the University of Connecticut and Suffolk Law School. In addition, the attorneys are supported by Veronica Winslow, a Paralegal, and Daniel Mazariego, a law clerk. Attorney Alex J. Martinez has earned a great amount of recognition from the vast Hispanic community in our area, most notably, due to his efforts in reaching out to the youth population. He has been a board member of the Stamford Public Schools and has volunteered for the Boys and Girls Club in Stamford and Greenwich, Connecticut for whom he has donated his time to the Latino Youth Initiative and the Scholarship Committee. Attorney Martinez has also served as a mentor figure to numerous first generation young Hispanic students. In fact, one of the young Hispanic students was Mr. Heredia. In addition, Attorney Martinez has served on the Board of Directors of The United Way and was the Chairman of the Annual Fund Committee.
He has also provided his service on a pro-bono basis to different social causes, including Housing and Expansion Projects and Immigration Seminars. Attorney Martinez also provided legal assistance to The Day Laborer Program, which is a program that is supported by Connecticut Legal Services. Mr. Martinez is also the President of the Peruvian American Community Center of Connecticut, an organization that he has been a member since 1994. Since the beginning of his career, Attorney Martinez has earned dozens of awards and recognitions, including a Who’s Who Among American Law Students award in 1992; a Community Service Award he received from West Hill High School, in 2002; and a Pioneer Award he received from The Latino Foundation in Stamford in November 2008. Alex J. Martinez recognizes the importance of community involvement just as he also recognizes the incredible potential of the Hispanic market. Last February, he accepted our invitation to provide important insight into the legal aspects of business management as part of our Seminars for Small Business Owners.
